The event is scheduled to take place from 27–31 July 2026 and will be hosted at the University of Nairobi in Kenya.

About STACK

STACK (System for Teaching and Assessment using a Computer Algebra Kernel) is an open-source assessment system that enables rich, automatically assessed mathematical questions. It supports symbolic answers, formative feedback, multiple solution paths, and deep conceptual learning. STACK is widely used in undergraduate mathematics to enhance engagement, consistency, and scalability of assessment while preserving mathematical integrity.

Nature of the Meeting

The 2026 meeting is designed as a highly interactive, community-focused event:

  • Morning Sessions: Will feature presentations, case studies, and research talks on the pedagogy, technology, and future directions of STACK.
  • Afternoon Sessions: Will be hands-on workshops, offering practical experience in authoring STACK questions, designing assessments, and integrating STACK into teaching and research workflows.

Who Should Attend

The meeting will be especially beneficial to:

  • Undergraduate Students: Those with an interest in mathematics education, educational technology, or open-source tools.
  • Educators and Researchers: Both early and seasoned career mathematics educators seeking practical skills, pedagogical insights, and international collaboration opportunities around digital and open assessment.
